Sustainability

The race is conducted in a Sami reindeer husbandry area. The course winds through the reindeer winter pasture land and further up the mountains where the reindeer stay the rest of the year. Nordenskiöldsloppet promotes sustainable reindeer husbandry in connection with the event.

Environmental threats such as reduced biodiversity and climate change have a strong impact on the sensitive Arctic areas and warming in the Arctic is happening faster than elsewhere on earth. For Nordenskiöldsloppet, it is a prioritized target to contribute to long-term sustainable development and to reduce the event's environmental impact to the greatest extent possible.

We follow a “Leave no Trace” policy. The goal is that there should be zero garbage along the entire race track. Leaving trash is only allowed at the race’s service points.
