About the race

The 7th edition of Nordenskiöldsloppet in modern times takes place in 2024. The 220 km long track leads through untouched wilderness north of the Arctic Circle and follows a historical route from 1884. Back then polar explorer Adolf Erik Nordenskiöld arranged the race only to prove that the members of his expeditions could ski long distance within short time. Winner anno 1884 became Pavva Lasse Nilsson Tuorda in a time of 21 hours and 22 minutes which is today's medal time.

The race is in classic technique and open for both elite and amateurs who look for the ultimate endurance test on a pair of skis. Once the race has startet at kl. 05:00, the participants have 30 hours to cover the full distance. Along the way there are feeding stations providing the participants with all kind of energy that needs to be refilled.

Track

The track winds its way through the beautiful Lapland landscape:

Apart from an extra loop past the control in Purkijaur on the way home, the race follows the same track to the turning point in Njavve and back towards Jokkmokk. The total distance is 220 km. This makes the race the world's longest cross -country skiing race and the first ultra competition in modern times.

The race organizer has the right to change the track.
